Box releases Windows Phone app
Market Watch reports.
Box announced the availability of Box for Windows Phone, an entirely new mobile productivity app enabling businesses to collaborate and share essential content from any location.
According to PC Magazine, the firm also announced a deal with Qualcomm whereby the chipmaker will work with handset makers to get the Box app preloaded on upcoming devices.
Chris Yeh, head of platform at Box, acknowledged that Windows Phone has yet to "establish itself as that third, strong mobile OS", but said Box is still experiencing "strong customer demand" for a Windows Phone version of its app.
With Box for Windows Phone, the company "took advantage of the live tiles" found on the Windows home screen. Users can take a file and pin it to the live screen, which will provide real-time updates.
Yeh championed the integration with Microsoft Office, which allows users to take files from within a Box account and open or edit from Office programs, like Word or Excel.
