BoxTone offers mobile management tool

Mobile service management software vendor BoxTone has unveiled a tool designed to give IT companies a single management view of all the devices and mobile networks within the organisation, reports InformationWeek.

The software, called Mobile Service Management (MSM), is a single, unified mobile management console with software modules for the entire mobile life cycle.

Enterprises can use MSM for centralised control of Apple iPhone and iPad, BlackBerry, Google Android, Nokia Symbian and Windows Mobile devices; BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Microsoft ActiveSync and Good Technology mobile connectivity platforms; and a wide variety of enterprise mobile applications.

IBM acquires Sterling Commerce

Tech giant IBM has agreed to buy integration service provider Sterling Commerce from communications provider AT&T for £973 million, states Computing.co.uk.

Sterling Commerce's products will complement IBM's WebSphere middleware arm and the acquisition will also see Big Blue get the smaller company's large trading network.

Craig Hayman, IBM WebSphere GM, says the acquisition would give IBM new tools to help clients build dynamic business networks connecting partners, suppliers and clients.

Terracotta delivers Ehcache 2.1

Terracotta, a provider of "infrastructure software for enterprise Java scalability," has unveiled Ehcache 2.1, a version of its distributed caching offering, says eWeek.

Other features in Version 2.1 include "expanded support for IBM WebSphere [that] ensures that WebSphere users can take advantage of all the features of Ehcache, states the company.

In addition, Terracotta Web Sessions, a fully coherent, highly available and durable Web session clustering solution, is now available for IBM WebSphere, adding to its support for WebLogic, Tomcat, JBoss and Jetty," Terracotta says.
