BPM software sales up

Sales of business process management software are expected to rise 21% per year, to reach $2.7 billion in 2009, reports Investor`s Business Daily.

Ken Vollmer of Forrester Research says sales of business software overall are projected to rise at an 8% to 10% rate, by comparison. "Businesses need new ways to change business processes. BPM creates the ability to improve productivity and handle ."

Small and medium enterprises now lead the BPM software market, but some big guys - IBM, Adobe Systems, TIBCO and CA - are rising fast.

IBM bolsters BPM offering

IBM has completed its $1.6 billion bid for FileNet, reports Tech World.

The buy adds to the company`s enterprise content management (ECM) portfolio. FileNet`s content management and business process applications have been used by 4 300 businesses. Although IBM runs its own ECM division and FileNet`s software will be added to that business, the company will support both platforms.

FileNet`s applications will be integrated with IBM`s business process management and SOA (service-oriented architecture) wares, IBM said.

US firm wins supply-chain accolade

California-based Vitria Technology, which provides SOA integration solutions, says that one of its customers, MasterBrand Cabinets, has won Network World`s 2006 Enterprise All-Star Award for Vitria`s innovative supply-chain management application, reports PR Wire.

MasterBrand was able to speed order fulfilment, provide exception handling and enable visibility across the , earning the company an Enterprise All-Star Award.
