BPS to distribute SAS Profitability Management

Business Performance Solutions (BPS) and SAS Institute South Africa have announced that BPS will represent the newly-launched SAS Profitability Management in the country.

Murray de Villiers, Partner Manager of SAS, says: "BPS has proved to be an exceptional SAS value-added reseller since its appointment in 2003. This announcement builds on the domain expertise in BPS and will enable us to grow our relationship further."

Only SAS Profitability Management delivers the scalability needed to calculate profitability at the level of individual customer, channel and product transactions, where there may be millions of customers and billions of transactions.

"Having supported customers in South Africa since 1995 in the development of cost and profitability models through the SAS activity-based management solution, this is a logical extension within our field of expertise," says Nick Grenfell, Managing Director of BPS.

He continues: "SAS Profitability Management is a highly flexible modelling environment where you can define your own dimensions, cost and revenue allocation rules, and even the layout and maths of your customer income statements."

Grenfell believes some customers will look to integrate SAS Profitability Management with their existing ABM models, while others will prefer a standard costing approach. He sees initial demand coming from financial services, telecommunications and retail sectors.

SAS Profitability Manager allows users to track the profit performance of customer groups or individual customers, product groups or individual SKUs, channels or specific branches. This drill-down view into revenue, cost and asset categories enables users to manage profit as a performance metric at the lowest level of granularity.

"Ultimately, SAS Profitability Management is about understanding the impact of individual products and customers right down to a transaction level, and providing an insight into the key drivers behind profitability," Grenfell concludes.
