As the worldwide brain drain reaches fever pitch, ITWeb, in conjunction with the JCSE, will attempt to discover just what is needed.

The ICT Skills survey 2008, available here until 7 July, is challenging the Department of Labour's estimation in the National Scarce Skills Report 2007, indicating that SA needs 37 565 ICT workers.

More information about the ITWeb JCSE ICT Skills Survey 2008 breakfast seminar, which takes place on 16 September at Southern Sun in Grayston is available online here.

While the ITWeb/JCSE survey does not attempt to be as precise, the aim is to identify trends and offer possible solutions.

Combining ITWeb's reach and audience, and JCSE's experience and resources, this survey will try to provide an objective and empirical survey of what skills corporate SA really needs, according to corporate SA.

Aimed at CIOs and other decisions-makers, this survey aims to gain perspective on the skills crisis and how companies measure up. It will reveal what skills are needed, what is being done to retain or create them, and what skills would be useful to individuals in getting ahead.

The results will be outlined at a breakfast seminar on 16 September, at the Southern Sun, in Grayston. An in-depth analysis on what the results mean for SA will be discussed.
