Executive Chairman and CEO of Brainware, Piet den Boer, has announced that he will assume a non-executive position in the company as of 1 July this year. His place will be taken by JC van Niekerk.

The company announced the appointment of Van Niekerk earlier this month. He is currently the interim MD of Sita, the State IT Agency, and is credited with the smooth transfer and integration of the agency. He was with Sita forerunner InfoPlan for four years before that.

The previous CEO, Kobus Louw, stepped down from his position on medical advice.

Van Niekerk has promised that the Brainware corporate structure will be revamped to bring focus back to its operations.

The market seems to have taken the announcement in its stride, with little change in the Brainware price. It has been trading in the upper 60c consistently since a catastrophic plunge from the 200c level in August last year.

Brainware also announced that their expected move to the information technology sector of the JSE main board will take place on 31 May, subject to approval. It is currently listed in the venture capital section.
