Brampton York Software Technologies has launched a system integration and entity structure management system for small, medium and large enterprises.
The product, Gibraltar, provides a scalable solution for reporting, workflow and statistical analysis, and Brampton York says it is ideal for any enterprise dealing with issues such as integrating disparate and distributed IT systems into a controlled and managed environment.
"Over the years we have seen a reoccurring problem among our clients when requiring centralised and consolidated information from disparate systems," says MD Stuart Mackereth.
"Traditionally, systems and solutions providing easy access to this information have been prohibitively expensive and have had long implementation cycles. Gibraltar has addressed both the cost and ease-of-use issues of this requirement."
Gibraltar provides a platform that interrogates, understands and consolidates disparate systems and their interdependencies. The system, which does not stage data or attempt to replace system functionality, prevents any major disruption within an organisation.
Once implemented, it detects interaction of the different systems and the impact certain events have, and can initiate "cause-and-effect" responses. The two functions, consolidation and the ability to initiate responses, assist organisations in extracting accurate business reports and ensure that organisational processes are adhered to.
Every resource, task, data field and asset, tangible or intangible, can be categorised as an entity and related information is stored in a central repository. These entities, when manipulated through direct input or as a result of programmed events, can interact with each other and generate results according to predefined business rules.
"Gibraltar serves as an enabler in the sense that it does not strive to eliminate existing systems, but serves to integrate them," says Mackereth. Unlike typical integration, Gibraltar performs the integration at an output level first.
"For example, it will co-exist with existing systems and provide a single interface for viewing and reporting on events within the configured systems. Because Gibraltar is initially introduced at a management level, and then flowed down to the users on an 'as needed` basis, the system can be introduced into an organisation with very little disturbance to the end-user."
He adds that Gibraltar`s functionality is applicable to a variety of industries, not only financial services and telecommunications, which tend to have large enterprise IT environments with a variety of distributed and disparate systems that require integration and monitoring.
However, it is ideally suited to these industries and the banking environment in particular as this is where the requirement originated.
