Christopher Bray, Network Associates` regional director for sub-Saharan Africa, left the local office in mid-February, following a promotion to an executive position at NAI US.
Bray took charge of NAI SA in August 2001 and the subsidiary says he has since then presided over a 50% overall year-on-year growth.
Under Bray`s guidance, NAI SA "remained strong in the enterprise segment of its business, and also entered the retail market".
He secured a contract with Microsoft`s MSN to make the company`s products available through its msn.co.za portal and brokered a sale of McAfee`s VirusScan and Firewall software to Standard Bank, which made the product available at no cost to more than 150 000 online customers.
He has also grown NAI`s small and medium enterprise market by 260%. Growth is also attributed to partnerships, secured by Bray, with vendors such as Compaq.
Under Bray`s leadership, NAI claims to be channel-focused, with partner programmes and initiatives for resellers. He has also added two distribution agreements to the stable.
Bray`s successor will be announced shortly.
