Leading IT infrastructure distributor, Axiz, changes the face of gaming with the release of the all-new GeForce 8800 GTX and GeForce 8800 GTS graphics processing units (GPUs).
The new GPUs offer unrivalled processing power and unique levels of graphics realism and special effects.
XFX, known by gamers worldwide for its mind-blowing, performance-crushing and competition-obliterating video cards, is pleased to add the two new GPUs to its offering which has completed the shift in NVIDIA's GPU architecture.
"Based on the innovative new GeForce 8 graphics architecture, the powerful new GeForce 8800 GTX and GeForce 8800 GTS GPUs are the industry's first DirectX 10 compatible GPUs. They are also the reference GPUs for the DirectX 10 development and certification," comments Philip Henning, graphic product manager, Axiz. "This means all future games will be developed around the DirectX10 architecture, giving gamers lifelike visuals and artificial intelligence in the games."
Rocking the gaming world with a fully unified shader core, these GPUs dynamically allocate processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations. The unified stream processors efficiently process geometry shader programs, while reducing dependence on the CPU for geometry processing. The GeForce 8800 GTX and GeForce 8800 GTS feature NVIDIA GigaThread technology that supports thousands of independent simultaneous threads for maximum GPU utilisation. Shader Model 4.0 enables new complex operations on the GPU and reduces the load and CPU cycles.
Stream Out enables programmers to add more detail without having to re-render the entire pipeline. Geometry Shaders permit geometry creation and tessellation for smooth curved surfaces and realistic character animation, including lifelike facial expressions and hair.
Occupying the space of two slots, each of these GPUs use high-speed GDDR3 memory and are HDCP capable. Henning advises gamers to ensure they have a strong enough power supply to power the GPUs.
The new GPUs are faster than a dual GeForce 7900 GTX running in SLI mode and even faster than a single GeForce 7950 GX2 card. The GeForce 8800 GTX has a 24-pixel per clock ROP and the GTS a 20-pixel per clock ROP. "The name of the game is speed, so be sure to move quickly," ends Henning.
