The challenge of integrating critical knowledge coordinates buried in volumes of unstructured data may become the single largest issue for IT organisations in coming years. Content management, knowledge management and document imaging and archiving have not provided the critical business value required.
Leveraging the tremendous investment in structured data integration and analysis is the answer to this mounting challenge. But how do we bridge the tremendous gap between unstructured data and our structured world?
Bill Inmon, internationally acclaimed "father of data warehousing", will discuss his vision and work in this critically important area at the Data Warehousing and the Information Factory: Best Practices Forum.
The Forum, which is being held from 9-10 March at Gallagher Estate, Midrand will showcase the Corporate Information Factory and Government Information Factory on consecutive days. The Forum will be followed by a one-day workshop on 11 March: "Implementing an Information Factory Program : A Practitioner`s Workshop".
This data warehousing forum and workshop are long overdue in South Africa, according to the Computer Society of South Africa (CSSA). A recent market survey conducted by the organisation confirmed that the demand for such an event was high. The conference and workshop expect to attract a variety of information professionals, business unit and division managers and supervisors, with responsibility for or involvement in directing business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives.
The CSSA, in collaboration with the Systems Crafters Guild and the Gavroshe In-Depth Series of Seminars, is hosting the event.
