Brighter outlook for DTS students

Several training institutions have agreed to take in Dynamic Training Solutions (DTS) students after negotiations by the respective branch managers. This follows the liquidation of DTS.

Faizal Habib, Durban branch manager, says Durban-based students will be able to continue their studies through IT Intellect, a training institution linked to Natal Technikon, Technikon Witwatersrand and Technikon Pretoria, which has agreed to take on the students at no charge.

Peter Denny, MD of IT Intellect, says about a dozen students have approached his company since the news of DTS` liquidation. "I sympathise with the students - we appreciate that a lot of them have put their life savings into [training]. If we need to accommodate students at our Rivonia branch, we`ll do that too."

The only proviso, Denny says, is that students who have only paid the deposit amount would have to pay in the difference they would have paid through DTS. "It wouldn`t be fair to those who`ve paid for everything upfront," he says.

Feroz Patel, DTS regional manager, Eastern Cape, says that while Port Elizabeth-based students will be catered for by CCS Training and the Little Red School, he`s been unsuccessful in finding someone to take care of East London-based students.

DTS MD Faiez Dollie confirms that Capetonian students will be able to complete their courses through the New Horizons and CCIT training institutions. Dollie says he is still negotiating with two other companies in that area.

The only requirement across the board is that students will have to purchase their own manuals where necessary.
