AST Enterprise Solutions Management (ESM), the sole distributor of Brio Software in southern Africa, has announced that Handelsbanken, a leading player in the International banking sector, has enlisted Brio Software`s business intelligence suite to extract and analyse customer information from its large central database and make it available to its local branches.
Since deployment, Handelsbanken`s branches have increased their cross-selling and promotional capabilities through access to comprehensive information about customer attributes and purchasing habits, enabling a level of customer service not offered anywhere else in Europe.
Svenksa Handelsbanken is recognised as the most profitable and innovative bank in Europe, with approximately 460 branches throughout Sweden, and additional branches throughout Finland, Denmark, Norway and UK.
As part of its drive to become a customer-centric organisation, Handelsbanken undertook a massive project to integrate the customer information stored at each branch within one large, secure database at its central office. This aim of this project was to enable local branches to extract relevant and valuable information on their customers - what financial products they use, what their habits are - and use this information to determine what other Handelsbanken products the customer could benefit from, providing everyone in the organisation with a single view of the customer.
Prior to the Brio implementation, the only way to extract information from the database was through a Query Management Facility tool that required knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL). To train all staff to write SQL would have been a high-cost, time-inefficient endeavour. Additionally, Handelsbanken struggled to educate its branches about the full extent of the information that was available to them in the database.
Handelsbanken needed a query tool that would enable all staff to access information from the central database, as well as educate staff as to the various types of information available.
Using Brio Intelligence, employees at Handelsbanken`s branches are now able to unlock customer information from the central database and make intelligent decisions based on accurate information. Through a Brio-developed dashboard for customer data, sales and marketing staff in each of the branches has immediate access to information through the Brio Intelligence Web and client server tools. The branches are now able to see what kinds of information and options are at their disposal. Brio`s business performance software is also being used as the primary communication tool between the branches and the main office.
