Brio Software to support next-generation business intelligence needs for Toyota

Johannesburg, 22 Feb 2002

Brio Software, represented locally by AST Enterprise Management Solutions, announced that Toyota Motor Sales, USA, has deployed Brio to provide employees with the ability to perform powerful data analysis and informal inquiries from multiple divisions across the enterprise.

Additionally, Brio will improve Toyota`s overall business performance by enabling intelligent access from multiple warehouses and production applications, such as Oracle, DB2, Redbrick and AS400.

Brio Software is a leading provider of next-generation business intelligence tools and applications that help Global 3000 companies achieve breakthrough business performance.

As a preferred business intelligence tool and application supplier within Toyota, Brio Software provides over 1 200 users the ability to create queries/reports and analyse data on automotive logistics, customers, marketing and financials. Analysts are able to strategically dissect data warehoused on a nightly basis and tactically manage data queried directly from Operational Data Stores on a real-time basis.

"Brio is rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the local business intelligence market, especially in the manufacturing and automotive industries," says Andrew Cook, Manager Business Intelligence at AST ESM.

"Manufactures can reap tangible rewards and reduce TCO from deploying Brio within its business performance framework, utilising Brio`s performance builder technology to track and measure business metrics, and provide meaningful KPI`s and balanced scorecards."

Prior to the implementation of Brio, Toyota analysts created reports from mainframe text extracts - a rigorous and time-intensive process. With the adoption of Brio`s business intelligence tools and applications, Toyota associates now have immediate access to business-critical information. For example, calculation of a key business component - the average cost per unit for moving vehicles - was reduced from a quarterly weeklong process involving several analysts to an automated report that is published daily.

Analysts are empowered to make faster, more accurate decisions by accessing and analysing data from disparate data sources throughout the organisation. Additionally, Toyota analysts are able to identify opportunities and issues in time to take appropriate action, simplify business processes throughout the organisation, and convey business information to associates, suppliers and partners.
