Brother, through its local distributor Brotek, adds to its strong roster of multifunction centre (MFC) products with the impressive new MFC-8460N with features to minimise downtime and reduce total cost of ownership.
Combing speed and laser technology, the MFC-8460N is network ready, has up to 28ppm print speeds, 1 200 x 1 200dpi resolution, a 50-sheet multipurpose tray, 250 sheet paper tray, 32MB memory (expandable to 544MB), plus five new features including scan to FTP server, custom scan profile storage, LDAP, a secure function lock, and a fax receiving time stamp.
All these features, coupled with a proven lower cost of ownership, take the MFC-8460N well-above similar MFCs in its class.
"Small to medium-size businesses understand that achieving peak productivity is one of the most important factors in keeping them competitive with considerably larger companies," explains Fred Saayman from Brotek, the distributor of Brother in SA. "It has always been one of our objectives to help these customers remain ahead of the curve by providing them with exceptional products like the MFC-8460N."
The MFC-8460N is a fast, reliable five-in-one MFC capable of handling the ongoing document needs of most busy office environments.
The MFC-8460N has a convenient flatbed design that accommodates either single sheets or bound documents for copying, faxing, or scanning. Its up to 50-sheet ADF also makes it easy to handle multi-page documents and is compatible with both PC (Windows) and Mac operating systems.
With the ability to function as a digital copier, the latest MFC supports reduction and enlargement of documents from 25%-400% in 1% increments, makes up to 99 copies and includes sorting functionalities. Copies up to A4 size can be made from both the glass and the automatic document feeder (ADF).
As a full-function standalone fax machine, the laser MFC supports up to 340 total speed dial locations, and also incorporates dual access and broadcast faxing features. It also stores up to 500 pages for Quick Scan faxing or out-of-paper fax reception. Standalone fax and copy operation is standard on Brother's MFC line, so a computer is not required.
When operating as a scanner, these units are capable of colour scanning up to 19 200 x 19 200dpi interpolated resolution (up to 600 x 2 400dpi optical). For Windows and OS X 10.2.4 or greater based users, there is an easy-to-use "scan to" button for scanning directly to an FTP site, image application, OCR, e-mail application or file. The colour scanner function comes bundled with document management and OCR software. ScanSoft PaperPort SE with OCR software is available for Windows and Presto! Page Manager (which also includes an OCR application) is available for Mac users.
All Brother products come with the back up of the helpline and technical support and a 12-month warranty. All users can log on to the Brother Solutions centre at http://solutions.brother.com to view FAQs and to receive the full benefit of their machine's functionality.
