BTG, Interwoven sign strategic local partnership

Johannesburg, 19 Aug 2005

International content management giant Interwoven has selected Bytes Technology Group (BTG) - Systems Integration - Configured Solutions division to promote, support and resell its products into the local market.

The Enterprise Content Management (ECM) suite from Interwoven provides a critical link in the strategic offerings of Configured Solutions which spans business intelligence with BusinessObjects, enterprise change and configuration management with Serena, enterprise application integration with SeeBeyond and now ECM with Interwoven.

Says Kurt Oellermann, Divisional Managing Director of BTG Systems Integration - Configured Solutions: "Our clients are looking for solutions which are able to unite people, content and business processes - ECM fits this criteria perfectly, and the Interwoven content solutions enable an enterprise to accelerate and improve existing business processes."

"Interwoven is committed to developing its presence in SA. With the combination of Bytes Technology Group with the systems integration skills and experience of CS Holdings, as well as the complementary fit with the existing vendor portfolio, BTG offered a very good fit with our own objectives for the market and our existing customers," says Peter Ford, Alliances Sales Director, EMEA.

Interwoven ECM collectively manages the entire content lifecycle throughout creation, collaboration, management, reuse, delivery and archival or disposal. From which the business benefits experienced can be seen by accelerated time-to-value, delivery of tangible ROI, enablement of companies to deliver accurate and timely information, as well as the ability to minimise the risks and costs throughout the business.

Clients looking at deploying an Interwoven solution will benefit from a single, unified platform for business professionals to collaboratively create, store, manage, repurpose, deliver and archive information, and use it to drive specific business processes such as multi-channel publishing, legal matter management, claims processing, sales contract management and Web application change management.

In the area of document management and collaboration, Interwoven has solutions which have been widely acknowledged as among the most advanced and intuitive on the market. With seamless integration within both Microsoft Outlook, which for many has become the "de facto" user interface, and with Microsoft Office. This, combined with an ability to share and manage documents, e-mail, PowerPoint, Excel spreadsheets, rich media such as images and video files, .pdf files, etc, within one project or client specific file or folder - in the same manner and same interface as Outlook, has meant the user adoption rate of the solution is over 98%.

One of the key aspects of the solution is its ability to do all of this in an entirely secure environment enabling the content to be shared with third-parties - be they partners, suppliers, or customers. Clearly in this environment security becomes absolutely critical and the solution will enable security control to an individual document.

Interwoven has also announced an agreement with Microsoft to enable the functionality of this solution to be delivered through Microsoft`s SharePoint Portal Server, significantly enhancing the functionality and usability of Microsoft`s platform.

With this companies can then distribute all the content associated with specific business processes in multiple languages, across internal and external systems, across heterogeneous application environments - ensuring it reaches the right person, at the right time, and perhaps most importantly, in the right context.

"When looking for a partner to fulfil the ECM gap in our business, we wanted someone with a proven track record, an impressive customer base, and a technology solution that would not compromise or disrupt the business environment - it is with this that Interwoven met these criteria," adds Oellermann.

Interwoven has a full ECM suite due to its acquisitions of collaborative document management (iManage), DAM (MediaBin) and records management (Software Intelligence). The company also has a strong understanding of e-mail management issues. With more than 3 200 customers, over 300 partners, and in excess of 10 000 developers, its product portfolio includes: Web solutions, legal solutions, IT solutions, sales solutions and marketing solutions.

"In today`s world of information flow and exchange, content drives business as it is the lifeblood of an organisation. The reality is that content is not just an e-mail or a memorandum, it can be made up of Web pages, marketing collateral, branded images, litigation documents, contracts, forms, and more.

"The business case for ECM solutions is simply the mere fact that we are not only creating, but handling more of these forms of content daily is testimony unto itself that we need to better hold onto the intellectual property this content represents and better manage and secure the data flow in our organisations," ends Oellermann.
