The Brainworks Technology Incubator has changed its name to Bodibeng Technology Incubator. BrainWorks Management`s agreement with the funders of the BTI was to provide strategic and operational management to the BTI during its establishment phase. Part of this responsibility included recruiting and handing over the operations of the incubator to new management. With the establishment phase complete, Leon Lourens has been appointed as the new CEO of the BTI from 1 August 2003.
Bodibeng is a North Sotho word meaning watering hole or place of gathering. The BTI is just such a place, where members can gather and find sustenance, be it in the form of knowledge, skills or a network of contacts. Although BTI has changed the name it still has the same mandate to build the best virtual ICT incubator in South Africa.
The BTI`s charter remains unchanged in that they:
* Support high-tech entrepreneurs in starting and growing their businesses by offering innovative products and services
* Is a networked incubator focused on the needs of early phase entrepreneurs by providing hands-on business mentoring and by connecting them to our global network of partners, associates, consultants, lenders and investors
* Offer services to the entire technology development and entrepreneurship value chain, including services to support start-up companies, established corporates, academic and research institutions, and financial investment institutions
* Focus on the Information, Communications and Electronics Technology markets More information on the new management team and what is happening at BTI is available from the BTI website (www.bti.co.za).
