BulkSMS.com, a division of the Cape Town-based Celerity Systems, attended CeBIT held in Hanover, Germany in March 2006. The company gained international exposure, valuable market intelligence and accessed new market opportunities by attending CeBIT.
CeBIT is the largest exhibit worldwide supporting business-to-business deal-making in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. CeBIT hosted 450 000 visitors at this year`s exhibition.
"We were one of three South African companies exhibiting at CeBIT. The exhibition provided us with the platform to promote our bulk messaging solutions to the European, United Kingdom and other global markets," said Dr Pieter Streicher, managing director of Celerity Systems.
The international trade show afforded BulkSMS.com the opportunity to meet potential clients from around the world. Company representatives were able to visit many of the top global ICT companies exhibiting at the same location and market BulkSMS.com`s services to these industry leaders.
"Attending CeBIT gave our company credibility in the market and allowed us an opportunity to market our products directly to much larger corporations than through our usual marketing campaigns. Speaking to potential international clients gave us better insight into their messaging needs and helped us identify new opportunities in the international markets. We also met some of our existing international clients who provided valuable feedback on our products," said Dr Streicher.
Dr Streicher went on to say that the exhibition is an opportunity South African ICT companies should take up. By collaborating from a shared South African platform they can effectively market their services or products to an international audience seeking innovative and competitive ICT solutions.
"I can recommend CeBIT to local ICT companies. The country platform ideally should have more than 50 companies exhibiting at CeBIT to effectively market South Africa`s ICT capabilities to the global market," said Dr Streicher.
