Business Connexion announces its re-certification by Cisco as a South African wireless local area network (WLAN) specialist.
According to Cisco, Business Connexion has consistently met the criteria to achieve this WLAN specialisation.
"Business Connexion has met the resource requirements for a WLAN specialisation and demonstrated that it is qualified to support clients with their WLANs," the networking company says.
Claudius Barnardo, Cisco product manager at Business Connexion`s networking competency, says wireless is a key focus for the ICT integrator, which has resulted in the company recently establishing a wireless competency team.
"This team," he says, "is available to all Business Connexion`s regional offices and specialises in wireless technologies. Its focus is to provide assistance with site surveys, consulting on best possible solutions and, more importantly, high level consultation on securing and effectively managing wireless networks."
According to Barnardo, one of the main elements affecting the mainstream adoption of wireless technology in business is still the ongoing fear of security.
He says the establishment of this wireless competency team aims to quell the apprehension surrounding wireless technology and demonstrate Business Connexion`s clear understanding of what it takes to roll-out an effectively managed wireless network.
Wireless technology carries with it some inherent benefits, which have been mentioned several times in the press. However, Barnardo says, the real emphasis in ICT is to help businesses create as much value from their technology investments as possible.
"If there is no value created to the business itself by supporting existing processes, there is no business case for adopting new technologies just for technology`s sake," Barnardo adds.
To this extent, Business Connexion has established a Strategic Initiatives team that is responsible for putting together end-to-end solutions that will provide clients with real business solutions. This team will integrate peripheral products with the core wireless technologies to ensure Business Connexion will provide total wireless solutions, rather than ad hoc product placements.
Business Connexion believes that it is through moves such as the establishment of the wireless competency and its re-certification by Cisco, that clients will benefit greatly.
"Even more so, we believe that this will give Business Connexion the ability to implement the right technology to fit the needs of both existing and new clients," Barnardo concludes.
