Business Connexion wins MS Best Channel Partner in Africa award for second year

Johannesburg, 12 Apr 2002

Black empowerment IT group, Business Connexion, has won Microsoft`s prestigious Best Channel Partner for Africa, based on quality of support, sales performance and customer satisfaction over the previous financial year.

The award, made at the beginning of March at the Microsoft Operations annual Channel Partner Conference in Ireland, is the second consecutive year that Business Connexion has won the top partner in Africa prize. Business Connexion holds e-commerce Gold status and dual partner status with Microsoft.

"Our partners are extremely important to our business and play an integral role in the Microsoft value chain," says Brett Parker, enterprise sales and partner group director at Microsoft South Africa.

"This award is testimony to Business Connexion`s ability to provide customers in emerging markets with the business value through technology solutions that delivers the agility to capitalise on business opportunities."

"Microsoft cited our company`s accomplishments in delivering superior customer support service levels," says Benjamin Mophatlane, CEO of Business Connexion. "The award distinguishes partners who have consistently delivered Microsoft world-class service levels to their customers."

Business Connexion creates and delivers IT solutions based on Microsoft technology. Its core business centres around Microsoft licensing, the roll-out of Microsoft infrastructure, the deployment of Microsoft technology to facilitate the design and construction of business solutions and the on-going managed support.

"Winning this award twice in a row is an affirmation of the quality of our personnel," continues Mophatlane. "The primary yardsticks by which Microsoft makes the award include the technical support levels, service offerings, effective customer relationship management, accurate performance measurements and effective staffing and retention programs."

The original Business Connexion was founded in 1996. After undergoing some ownership changes, it was developed into its present form through a merger with another of SA`s Microsoft partner-companies, Seattle Solutions, in November 2001.

Business Connexion is the only South African Microsoft Gold Certified Partner in the Microsoft Enterprise Systems arena and currently holds more than 25% of all Microsoft licensing business in this country. It employs 130 people at its offices in Gauteng, Durban and Cape Town.
