Business Edge delivers system for Louisiana

Johannesburg, 18 Mar 2002

Business Edge Systems and Chicago-based RedMane Technology have successfully implemented a major enhancement to the Support Enforcement system for the State of Louisiana in the US.

The system enables the State of Louisiana to locate parents who are unwilling to assist in the financial maintenance of their children, and to enforce their compliance with legislation.

In order to effect this, the system interfaces with a large number of other state and federal systems including Internal Revenue, the Food Stamp Programme, the Department of Employment and Training, Department of Labour, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and so on. Revised Federal certification requirements stipulated that the Support Enforcement system be upgraded.

This is the most recent multinational project in which Business Edge has played a key role. The project was based on the remote development model that Business Edge has used successfully for other international clients. A joint design team with resources from Chicago, Minneapolis, Baton Rouge and Johannesburg was responsible for the analysis and design in the US. Systems development was split across three teams located in Johannesburg, Chicago and Minneapolis. Integration and user testing was done in Chicago and Baton Rouge, with South African assistance.

Tony Lakier, President of RedMane Technology, says the fact that they have worked with Business Edge on remote projects in the past means Business Edge collaborates efficiently at all stages of the project.

"Business Edge gives us access to top quality skills at 20% of the cost of US equivalents. This, coupled with their ability to rapidly resource and manage large remote project teams, allows us to bid aggressively in the highly competitive market conditions that prevail at the moment. We are looking forward to repeating the success of the LASES project with Business Edge in the near future."
