Business Edge offers self-help service solution for the mobile user

Johannesburg, 31 Oct 2002

Business Edge Systems has announced the local availability of MyNetonomy, a customer-facing software solution specifically designed, by global leader Netonomy, for the telecommunications industry - delivering advanced client care and e-commerce capabilities to wireless subscribers.

MyNetonomy provides dealers, businesses and customers with the ability to securely access their cellular accounts via mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), PCs, interactive voice response systems (IVRs) and interactive TVs.

Users can view and manage their own pre- and post-paid accounts securely and privately, effectively resolve service problems, and easily subscribe to value-added services through personalised MyNetonomy portals.

Service providers can acquire new customers through online subscription activation, and dealers and other retail point-of-sale locations can activate customers directly with no need to contact a call centre, increasing dealer productivity and raising customer satisfaction levels.

"MyNetonomy`s self-service application platform transforms the service provider/customer relationship from a customer relationship management (CRM) paradigm, to a customer-managed relationship (CMR) paradigm." says Rob Stansell, MD of Business Edge Systems. MyNetonomy is developed specifically for deployment in a network-centric Internet environment, and provides scalable, carrier-grade performance and reliability to millions of end-users.

Rapid tailoring capabilities

MyNetonomy can be customised to suit service providers` needs using the Portal Design Tool based on Java Server Pages and XML application workflow. The Portal Design Tool enables every service provider that adopts MyNetonomy to create a unique interface for its subscribers, along with corporate and product branding.

"MyNetonomy reduces operational costs of service providers, increases efficiency and offers 24x7 availability, while lessening the pressure on call centre operations. There is definitely a time-to-market advantage for first mover service providers. This allows them to efficiently manage current and new subscribers and roll out new value-added services," says Stansell.

With MyNetonomy, users can configure the look and feel of their online account environment and store personal information such as handset phonebook details. Users can browse online catalogues, select appropriate rate plans and content bundles, subscribe to value-added services and interactive content, and purchase products such as handsets and accessories.

Enhanced B2B functionality

Businesses can improve efficiency by tracking and managing wireless user access - from basic voice to complex extended office applications - with hierarchical administration and multiple profiles to suit different levels of authorised user access and privileges.

For example, different categories of corporate user can be created, enabling those employees who need international roaming or high usage rates to be differentiated from local, low-rate users.

With MyNetonomy service providers can analyse subscriber preferences and use of services, enabling them to create and deliver effective personalised electronic marketing campaigns to their customers.

Existing investment protection

MyNetonomy integrates with existing back-end billing, customer support and sales systems so service providers can deploy the software on the technology infrastructure which they already have in place.

Because MyNetonomy is built for the Internet, customers are protected from delays and complexity generated by legacy platforms.

The product runs autonomously from the service providers` business support and operational support systems (OSS), but is integrated with them to ensure that customer changes and other reference data are synchronised. This ensures 24x7 accessibility and there are no security threats to mission-critical billing and OSS platforms.

"Business Edge Systems has extensive experience in development, integration, maintenance and support of Web-based transactional systems in the financial services and telecommunications industries," says Stansell. "With successful three-month implementations at some of the world`s largest tier one wireless service providers, such as Vodafone Corporate in the UK, MyNetonomy`s speed of deployment and performance has been proven in the real world," he concludes.
