Business Edge has welcomed the news that one of its major business partners, Koukia, is to be bought by SSP plc and confirms that the Business Edge partnership will remain in place once the acquisition is concluded.
Banking and insurance systems specialist, Business Edge, has acted as Koukia's distribution and implementation partner in the Southern African region since 2004. Over this period, Business Edge has built strong capability in the Koukia solution and has taken it successfully into the South Africa market.
"With Koukia & Business Edge, SSP is able to extend its offering to insurers in South Africa looking to replace costly legacy technology. We are pleased to be able to continue this arrangement with Business Edge under SSP's ownership," says Andy Watts, director of the SSP Insurer Division.
Koukia has developed a comprehensive and unique General Insurance system that has attracted significant customer interest globally. Its previous owner, Wesfarmers Insurance Division, recently entered into a binding agreement to sell the company to SSP.
Says Wesfarmers Insurance Division managing director, Rob Scott: "SSP is a more natural owner of Koukia and is best placed in terms of its experience, expertise and customer base to take the business to the next stage of its development."
SSP is a global provider of IT solutions to the insurance and financial services industries with customers in more than 50 countries. SSP and Koukia have a history of working together since late 2006 when SSP was appointed European distributor for Koukia.
Says Rob Stansell, Managing Director at Business Edge: "SSP is a strong company with an excellent reputation in the global insurance software market, and an ideal new owner for Koukia. We look forward to working closely with SSP to help them grow the Koukia business in Southern Africa in the years to come and expect to see the Koukia product and business grow from strength to strength under SSP's ownership."
