At its annual user conference, Business Objects South Africa announced the local availability of Enterprise 6, the latest version of its integrated business intelligence (BI) software product suite. The new version includes Business Objects data integration products, Business Objects analysis platform, and analytic applications.
"Today`s announcement marks an important milestone for the company, as we believe that Enterprise 6 is currently the most integrated BI suite on the market featuring Web-based query, reporting and analysis; a BI portal; a data warehouse and metadata integration with enterprise application," says Gary Lawrence, country manager of Business Objects South Africa.
"With Enterprise 6, companies can now standardise on one BI platform with a single interface, obtaining faster and greater performance, enabling enhanced business performance."
Lawrence explains that the two key themes of Enterprise 6 are depth of functionality and breadth of integration.
"Enterprise 6 is the result of a lengthy investment process and demonstrates our clear leadership across the board in BI."
New features include support for multiblock reports, synchronised multiblock navigation and complex user-defined calculations. Enhancements from the previous suite are the new report component templates, zero-footprint HTML report creation, and an option to save or publish richly formatted reports to Microsoft Excel and Adobe Systems Acrobat formats.

The end-to-end business intelligence suite also includes the WebIntelligence 6.0 component, which enables easy ad hoc query, reporting and analysis.
Business Objects has already shipped the new business intelligence suite to more than 1 500 unique customers in the first six weeks since its general availability release in mid-May 2003. The number represents existing customers spanning 60 countries worldwide who have proactively downloaded the software, or have requested physical shipments of the new business intelligence suite.
