Business Objects, the world`s leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced that Janet Wood has been recognised by VARBusiness magazine as one of the top 50 women in the technology business.

The "Power 50 Women of the Channel" were chosen by the editors of the magazine based on both their outstanding achievements as executives and the influence they wield over the technology channel.

"These 50 select women epitomise what it means to be an outstanding leader and role model for other women in the IT industry," said Lawrence M Walsh, editor of VARBusiness. "Executives like Janet Wood of Business Objects highlight an important shift in a traditionally male-dominated industry. We`re pleased to feature such a dynamic woman at one of the most successful companies in the business."

"It is an honour to be included in the VARBusiness ranking of the top women in business," said Janet Wood, senior vice-president of global partnerships and sales enablement at Business Objects.

"Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to take on many interesting challenges and responsibilities, always focusing on the opportunity to learn and add value to the organisation. I hope that others will be inspired to aim high and concentrate on leadership and results, regardless of gender."

The Power 50 Women of the Channel is the cornerstone of a new social networking initiative by VARBusiness. The magazine also launched a Web site dedicated solely to business and career issues of women working in the IT product and services channel.
