Business Technology increases efficiency with Kaseya

Johannesburg, 27 Jul 2010

Business Technology, four-year-old Cape-based IT solutions company, has selected Kaseya's automated managed services software to support the business going forward. The company believes this decision will improve service and help grow Business Technology.

More information about SMEXA, which takes place on 3-4 August 2010 at The Forum in Bryanston is available online here.

Business Technology's core business is the provision of managed IT services to financial services companies; its clients include a portfolio of award winning financial services firms, including hedge funds, private equity funds, fund of funds, stock brokerages and traditional asset management firms.

“Over the past year the Business Technology team has investigated and tested a number of products, open source and purchased, which would assist us with the progression of our business to a true managed services company in line with global trends in our industry. During the course of this process we came across a number of products that assisted our business in certain areas, such as remote support to our clients in Mauritius. But in Kaseya we found a product suite that encompassed all of our requirements in a single product offering,” says Damian Jones, CEO and co-founder.

“This reduces our overhead with regards to internal systems maintenance as there is now a single system to be managed and maintained.”

Business Technology and Kaseya work together, with Business Technology engaging in a true partnership. The team at Kaseya have a deep understanding of the company's industry and, while it remains respectful of client confidentiality, it is able to offer a level of insight into the global market changes within the space.

“We believe the real power of Kaseya lies in the ability to change your business from a break/fix mentality to a true managed services provider; this will enable Business Technology to provide our clients with the world-class quality service we strive for and create a more profitable business based on the greater client-to-engineer ratio,” states Jones. “There are a number of resources available from Kaseya, and I would highly recommend to anyone implementing the product, to spend as much time as possible viewing these prior to starting.”

Business Technology began its implementation of Kaseya in April this year and has already seen significant improvements in efficiency.

Client audits are now available at a moment's notice, where previously the team had to run an inventory tool to ensure nothing had changed on the network since the last update, even if that had been a day prior. All client monitoring is through a single interface so Business Technology's Tier 1 engineers can easily identify any problems, such as disk space reaching a threshold, and either action this or pass the ticket to the relevant Tier 2 engineer instantly. All the daily manual checks the team were undertaking in each client environment are now fully automated, with a significant time saving for the business.

Integration of live support and remote support has simplified the process for clients based remotely, and a number of local clients prefer this method of support due to the instant response, as opposed to waiting for a technician to travel to site.

Kaseya's local presence is definitely an advantage, and the team from sales to tech support have been knowledgeable and available through the implementation process.

“Kaseya is the fastest growing and most widely used IT automation platform in South Africa, as both managed services providers and corporate clients take advantage of the benefits of it's single management platform to automate the service requirements of their IT assets. Kaseya will be exhibiting all its products at SMEXA this year,” says Jacques van de Merwe, Regional Sales Manager xSP at Kaseya South Africa.

The second annual IT Service Management Conference and Exhibition (SMEXA), taking place from 3-4 August 2010, at The Forum, is a high-profile two-day conference and exhibition that brings together local and international IT service management.
