Business uncapped launched for SMEs

Johannesburg, 06 Aug 2013

Telkom launched its Business Uncapped Internet Usage Plan yesterday. With this launch, the company now has a range of uncapped Internet products that caters to the small business market.

"Business Uncapped consists of a range of affordable uncapped Internet offers suitable for small offices with up to five users," says Carel Booysen, Executive: Business Broadband and Internet. "The idea is to give small businesses priority on the network during office hours, allowing for an uncapped Internet experience suitable for business-essential Internet functions like browsing, e-mail and file transfer."

This is part of the ongoing revitalisation of Telkom Internet to offer high-quality Internet products suited to either business or home users, at more affordable rates. "Business customers can now use bandwidth-intensive applications like 'sync and share' and remote backup, enjoying prioritised e-mail, browsing and software as a service," continued Booysen.

This latest product inclusion is the middle-of-the-range offering in Telkom Business' broadband portfolio suitable for customers seeking a product that resides between the Business SoftCapped and Premium Uncapped offers. With SoftCapped, customers can still access the Internet for browsing local and international Web sites even after they reach their usage limit. However, services like streaming and peer-to-peer are significantly restricted.

Premium Uncapped offers customers multiple concurrent users and high performance with prioritisation over the network at any time of the day. It also includes up to 40Mbps access speeds in areas where Telkom has deployed MSANs. Business Uncapped is yet another Telkom Business offering that empowers small business customers to realise their full potential. "It is products such as these that provide the access, capacity, speed and tools that enable customers to fully exploit the digital world."

Broadband is a key component of Telkom's journey to convergence; a key strategic imperative for Telkom Business. "Given that we are in the digital era and part of the Information Age, it is important that small businesses equip themselves with suitable products that allow for optimum productivity and convenience while still remaining cost effective," concluded Booysen.
