Toy company LEGO has contracted Business Unusual to provide services to support its SunSystems financial modules that underpin its South African operation.
LEGO is the largest toy manufacturer in Europe, and employs over 10 000 people in 30 countries worldwide. The LEGO brick has twice been named Toy of the Century, by Fortune magazine and by the British Association of Toy Retailers.
LEGO SA processes around 600 invoices every month, usings SunSystems for invoicing, stock control and debtors functions. Financial statements are returned to the company`s head office in Denmark on a monthly basis.
"The toy industry in this country is very competitive," says Stephen Emmerich, finance and administration manager, LEGO SA. "While LEGO play materials may cost more than imitation products, LEGO`s commitment to quality and our focus on stimulating imagination and creativity - thereby promoting development and learning - has ensured that we can continue to grow our market share."
"Given that the marketing and distribution of LEGO products in South Africa is dependent on the availability of sound financial information, support levels and response time are critical," he adds. "SunSystems underpins our operations in this country. Our Service Level Agreement with Business Unusual therefore ensures that we have prompt access to telephonic help desk and on-site support."
"We are aware of how critical it is for a company`s IT infrastructure to support its business goals, particularly in an increasingly competitive environment in which business needs change continuously," says Business Unusual MD, Dion Retief. "As a result, rapid response time is intrinsic to our focus on enhanced customer service. Business Unusual has been appointed as an authorised SunCentre as a result of its extensive experience in SunSystems implementation. In-depth knowledge of the product means that we are well-positioned to provide competitive services for SunSystems end-users."
