Buy Twitter followers on eBay
On eBay, more and more people are beginning to generate e-commerce sales for blocks of Twitter followers, which one can buy for a penny or less per follower, reports ZippyCart.
For a new e-commerce business getting on Twitter, this may sound like a smart investment because it can buy 5 000 followers for only $20 on eBay. However, it is still unclear as to the quality of the Twitter follower they'll get for their money.
Many speculate there are people in parts of Asia who spend all day creating accounts that follow each other, and then follow anyone who pays for a block of followers.
Amazon agrees to higher e-book pricing
While Amazon still believes a $14.99 price tag for e-books is "needlessly high", it will have to give in to Macmillan's demands to sell electronic versions of its books at a higher rate than Amazon's usual $9.99, writes CNET News.
The announcement comes after Amazon temporarily pulled Macmillan books from its Web site in a dispute over e-book pricing.
Macmillan and other book publishers have asked Amazon to increase the sales price of e-books on its Web site. But Amazon stood firm in its contention that anything above $9.99 was too high; that is until now.
Payment targets online VARs
Online value-added resellers (VARs) have been urged to sharpen their review processes as research reveals UK Internet businesses are losing about 2% of their revenue to fraud, states Computing.co.uk.
The UK Online Fraud Report, conducted by Vanson Bourne on behalf of payment services firm CyberSource, finds that firms are losing a yearly average of £400 000 (R4.8 million) to fraud and related costs.
Akif Khan, CyberSource's head of client and technical services, claims the IT sector remains one of the hardest hit. “IT goods continue to be top targets because they are so easy to resell,” he says. “The biggest problem for merchants is that the margins on the goods are so low.”
