The KwaZulu-Natal office of Bynx Africa and its regional distributor, InfoWave, have merged operations and consolidated their expertise to provide an integrated solution for customers in the Province. The agreement was concluded at the end of 2000 and is effective from January 2001.
The two companies had announced an agreement in November, which included the marketing, selling and implementation of Bynx packaged software solutions - including the Bynx financial and fleet management products. According to Mark Binks, this merger of operations in KwaZulu-Natal will enable both companies to focus on their core strengths i.e. Bynx to continue with the development of fleet and financial software and InfoWave with the marketing, selling and implementation of Bynx and other Oracle-based IT solutions, as well as InfoWave`s core business of Oracle software development.
The companies have agreed to operate under the InfoWave name and assure all customers of even higher levels of service and expertise. Bynx KZN-based personnel will transfer to InfoWave with the assimilation of staff and infrastructure already complete. "The merge with Bynx KZN brings enhanced strength and skills to our operation, and of course, a significant increase in the size of our company," states Ralph Collis, managing director of InfoWave.
Both companies have extensive expertise in Oracle-based development and have had a long-standing relationship. "Similar design disciplines and working cultures have made the integration relatively easy," adds Collis. InfoWave is a JSE-listed company and is based in Durban. The company has specialised in the custom-development of IT and business solutions with clients in the sugar, banking, transport and agricultural sectors. Collis cites the ease of integration of the Bynx software with Infowave`s own custom-solutions as a major competitive advantage for the company that also has its sights set on expanding its customer base in KwaZulu-Natal, the rest of South Africa, as well as outside of South Africa.
