Bytes Document Solutions acquires Kenyan distributorship

Johannesburg, 10 Jul 2006

Bytes Document Solutions, sole authorised distributor of Xerox products and solutions in sub-Saharan Africa, has acquired the rights to distribute into Kenya, taking the number of African countries under its wing to 24.

"Until recently Xerox distributed its products and solutions directly into Kenya," says Jacques van Wyk, Africa operations manager at Bytes Document Solutions. "However, a decision was taken to acquire the rights to distribute into Kenya from Xerox because of the strategic importance of Kenya as part of the greater East African economy. We currently distribute to Uganda and Tanzania; Kenya will now consolidate our efforts in East Africa.

"Bytes Document Solutions has solid and effective infrastructures in place to manage and support the Xerox distribution network into Africa, and has demonstrated the ability to take Xerox into market leading positions, particularly in countries where risks are high and challenges sometimes extreme."

Xerodoc Kenya is the current authorised Xerox distributor for Kenya and will continue its role as the face of Xerox in Kenya. Based in Nairobi, Xerodoc Kenya is well placed to engage the Xerox opportunity in Kenya; and is poised to become one of the biggest distributors of Xerox products and solutions outside of South Africa, Van Wyk says.

Plans are in place to invest in Xerodoc`s infrastructure and coverage in the country to expand its maintenance and support capabilities. Marketing and branding will remain the responsibility of Bytes Document Solutions.
