Bytes Business Solutions has appointed Ability Solutions as an accredited business partner and sub-distributor for its Business Objects product set.
Business Objects is one of the world`s leading providers of business intelligence (BI) solutions. Its offerings are sold in SA through Bytes.
In terms of the agreement, Business Objects software will be bundled with Ability`s own financial planning and distribution management software suites, giving customers a comprehensive solution with significant added value from detailed, graphically illustrated management information.
According to Ability`s commercial director David Greenleaf, the appointment reflects Ability`s focus and success in two industry sectors: financial institutions and large distribution organisations.
"Our customers comprise large banking institutions and insurance companies, and organisations involved in distributing high technology goods," says Greenleaf.
"By partnering with Bytes, we have gained the opportunity to add considerable functionality to our software offerings. Business Objects software enables our customers to track, understand, and manage enterprise performance and help them leverage the information that is stored in our solutions` databases.
"The move has given us the opportunity to effectively re-invent solutions such as data warehousing, enterprise resource planning [ERP], and customer relationship management [CRM] systems using Business Objects` new-generation thinking and technologies."
For example, says Greenleaf, Business Objects software enables Ability to upgrade financial management software into a comprehensive enterprise performance management solution for its customers.
"It also gives users the opportunity to harness the power of executive information systems and adopt a `balanced scorecard` approach to defining goals and measuring the internal processes central to performance management.
"Business Objects will contribute to an in-depth understanding of the unique structures of an organisation. This is a key step towards setting performance benchmarks for individuals, operational cells and the corporate teams with which they are associated," he adds.
According to Bytes` sales and marketing director, Annette Hieber, Ability`s appointment is in line with a strategic partnership drive initiated by Bytes last year.
"Ability has entrenched relationships with its customers in the financial and distribution niche markets. It has the skills base necessary to implement solutions that promote the concept of a `360-degree` solution, across people, processes and technologies.
"In terms of our agreement, Ability will have access to the Business Objects suite to assist companies to optimise returns on the investment," she says.
