Bytes in partnership with eCom Institute

Johannesburg, 17 Apr 2002

Enterprise software company Bytes Business Solutions (BBS), a division of Bytes Technology Group Limited, has formed a partnership with privately owned black IT company eCom Institute. The partnership focuses on providing complete business intelligence (BI) solutions to the local market. It brings together BBS`s strengths in BI, customer relationship management (CRM) and applications with the eCom Institute`s Web marketing service, e-business enablement, and e-security and infrastructure solutions.

BBS has been a distributor of Business Objects (BO) in South Africa for over eight years. The company has helped in marketing BO locally and building its customer base to approximately 320. BI, a division within BBS, delivers customer-focused BI solutions, including data warehouse and ETL solutions.

"We are currently running a project with a large government department and the project team includes consultants from both companies," says Birgitta Cederstrom, sales manager at Bytes Business Solutions. "We are excited about the future and have already witnessed a positive impact in the working relationship that is leveraging the skills base between both companies."

eCom Institute`s business focus is on government and large private corporations. The company has competencies in e-business integration with extensive knowledge of the digital market and management consulting. Cederstrom says the company`s differentiator is its no-nonsense business-based approach that yields well grounded solutions that contribute to the bottom line.

"Delivering customer-focused solutions is a passion of ours and we have the right team with extensive knowledge and high service levels in the BI space," says Cederstrom. "What we have accomplished so far gives an indication of greater things to come."

"The perception that black-owned companies are merely a shop front for white-owned companies is one of the challenges we face in the market," says Cassim Parak, MD of eCom Institute. "Our company is value-driven and as part of our philosophy we provide equal opportunities based on the majority of the country." "We do handle some government projects, but we do not depend on them for survival," says Gary Segal, sales and marketing director at eCom Institute. "In actual fact, we derive most of our revenues from the private sector."
