Bytes Intelleca has boosted its BBBEE rating to Level 3, as well as being a value-added supplier, in line with the DTI's Codes of Good Practice. The company was rated and certified by independent rating specialist Empowerdex.
The improvement in rating for Bytes Intelleca is in line with its commitment to the Altron Transformation Vision 2012, which seeks to align the entire group in line with the Codes of Good Practice.
“We are fully committed both to the principles of BBEEE and the overall vision of the group,” says Bytes Intelleca executive Shaun Cochrane. “In line with this, we will continue to advance our efforts to improve our rating.”
Highlights for Bytes Intelleca, South Africa's fastest growing contact centre specialist, were Ownership, where it scored 22.83 points out of a possible 20; Preferential Procurement, where it scored 16.12 out of a possible 20; Enterprise Development, where it scored 100% with 15; and Socio-Economic Development, where it also scored a maximum possible five. This gave the group a total score of 75.37%.
“Our focus on skills development and enterprise development are certain to build the capacity that will enable us to improve in the other areas of our business,” says Cochrane. “Due to well documented historical issues, skills from the formerly disadvantaged sector are in short supply and hotly contested in both the broader ICT market and our highly competitive, specialised space, which places the onus on us to grow our own skills. We will continue building on the foundation we have created so as to make our company fully representative and make a lasting contribution to South Africa.”
Bytes Technology Group itself obtained a verified Codes of Good Practice Ownership scorecard for 2010 of 22.83 out of a possible 23 from the Department of Trade and Industry, an increase from 18.6% in 2009.
The group, which is 27% owned by broad-based empowerment group Kagiso, received the additional three points above 20 as a result of various bonus points awarded to Kagiso. In addition, Bytes has a group score of 83.60, making it the top empowered ICT company in the country.
