Bytes, Sentronics partner on security solutions

Johannesburg, 25 Aug 2011

Bytes Systems Integration and Sentronics have formed a partnership focused on the provision of solutions to the security market. Sentronics has been appointed as a value-added distributor for Bytes' range of CCTV and other security devices.

Bytes Systems Integration is a division of Bytes Technology Group, wholly owned by JSE-listed Altron.

“We have built the partnership on the basis of an approach from our side and the comprehension, market positioning and penetration that Bytes can adopt and provide on the range of our IT-centric solutions,” says Bernard Senekal, MD of Sentronics.

“Today, security is broader than just the IT space. Sentronics and Bytes each provide a key strength to market because of their combination of IT and security-based skills.”

Sentronics holds the distribution rights to some key brands in the CCTV and access control environment, among them C-Cure by Tyco, IPSecurity Center by CNL Software, SAFLEC Access Control, Sony, Vivotek and Pelco by Schneider Electric.

“Our positioning in the market is centred on many of these brands, their technologies and the ability to design, sell and support solutions into the market. We design, deliver and manage medium- to long-term physical security platform solutions, a technology relatively new to South Africa but well understood by Bytes,” adds Senekal.

“We have become among the market leaders in the area of IP-based CCTV,” says Johan Crause, head of Bytes' CCTV department. “Worldwide, the use of video surveillance is rising steadily, mainly due to heightened security concerns and a range of new technologies - including IP video surveillance cameras, servers and digital video recorders (DVRs) - which ease the adoption of the technology. The most important advantage of IP cameras over analogue cameras is how they communicate with the rest of the system.

“Sentronics' range of security solutions means the company has outstanding reach into this market, and we expect our partnership to pay significant dividends as we deliver joint offerings.”
