Bytes Systems Integration concludes partnership agreement with Sun Microsystems SA

Johannesburg, 29 Nov 2006

Bytes Systems Integration (BSI), a division of Bytes Technology Group South Africa (Pty) Limited (BTG SA), is proud to announce the conclusion of a partnership agreement with Sun Microsystems South Africa and its SeeBeyond product which now forms part of the Java Composite Applications Platform Suite (JCAPS).

Bytes Systems Integration has enjoyed a relationship with EAI specialist company SeeBeyond for a number of years, and after Sun Microsystems acquired SeeBeyond in late 2005, the company has taken the decision to formalise the relationship between BSI and Sun Microsystems SA.

"The new relationship will open new opportunities for our existing customers and new prospects to the broader Sun Java Enterprise System solutions," says Winston Anderson, Product Manager for Sun Business Integration solutions at Bytes Systems Integration. "We will continue as the experts in Sun Java CAPS providing local sales, support and consulting building on our five-year pedigree in this space."

The partnership comes at a time when more and more South African customers are exploring the benefits of SOA architectures and the promise of Web services that these bring.

"We are extremely excited about this strategic partnership as Sun Microsystems are an acknowledged leader in providing a truly open SOA platform," says Jane Khaled, Strategic Engagements Manager for BSI. "We look forward to working closely with Sun to design solutions for both existing and new clients.

"We believe that the inclusion of SeeBeyond into the Sun Java Enterprise Suite is good news for all clients, as the ability to move rapidly to a SOA platform will allow them to leverage their current investments and enable the rapid introduction of new services, while reducing the overall service delivery costs. The increased services and products that BSI now has available will allow us to aggressively pursue new opportunities throughout Africa," she adds.

BTG as a group has enormous experience with the SeeBeyond (formerly STC) product which extends as far back as 1989. The local relationship with BTG has existed since 2000, where one of its divisions was the original South African partner of the company. The new partnership will combine this experience and translate it into new business opportunities for both.

"We are delighted that Bytes Systems Integration has joined the Sun Microsystems community by becoming an authorised Sun channel partner. Over the years BSI has built key customer relationships through the sale and support of SeeBeyond products. Sun Microsystems acquisition of SeeBeyond was a strategic one, adding value to our extensive product portfolio. Bytes Systems Integration complements this acquisition with their presence in the market, and the depth of skill and competence of their staff," says Brian O'Neill, Channel Manager at Sun.

"This new relationship affords Sun an opportunity to offer all its products and services through Bytes Systems Integration to a premier customer base," ends O'Neill.
