CA Africa releases latest version of Advantage Joe

Johannesburg, 29 Aug 2003

Computer Associates Africa has announced the immediate availability of Advantage Joe 3.1, the latest version of the company`s Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) development environment.

Advantage Joe - a member of CA`s Application Development solution family - now offers support for deploying, publishing and consuming Web services.

Explains Charles Flee, consultant: Technology Services at CA Africa: "Avantage Joe 3.1 enables developers to expose stateless Session Beans as Web services endpoints. Like EJB deployment, Web services support includes deployment to multiple targets or SOAP servers, including CA`s Web Services Broker (WSB) for Apache AXIS, BEA WebLogic, and IBM WebSphere."

In addition, Advantage Joe offers a new Web Services Consumer Wizard and InvokeService Smart Expansion that assist developers in the consumption of Web services.

The development environment also features a new XML editor for developing descriptor updates while executing the Deployment Wizard or standalone Deployment Tool.

Other features include:

* Local and remote deployment support for IBM WebSphere v5.0 Application Server;
* Step-by-step guidance for new J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) users via Task Advisor;
* Automatic deployment to non-Windows application servers;
* Integrated Editor and Interactive Debugger; and
* Support for the latest version of AllFusion Component Modeller.

Advantage Joe enables Java development teams to architect, create and deploy and manage enterprise applications using EJB.

Using the built-in Smart feature and wizard of Advantage Joe, developers can generate EJBs from component specifications, then create, test and debug business logic, and deploy it to any J2EE compliant server.
