Computer Associates International, Inc (NYSE:CA) and BearingPoint, Inc (NYSE:BE) today announced an alliance to help customers implement Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices for IT service management and maximise the business value from their growing IT investments.
The alliance combines CA`s industry-leading Unicenter Service Management solutions and BearingPoint`s methodologies and expertise in ITIL-based IT service management implementation - enabling customers to quickly and effectively adopt and maintain best practices, enhancing their existing internal skill sets and/or resource levels.
"C-level executives are seeking more intelligent and effective ways to manage the business of IT," said Gary Quinn, executive vice-president of partner advocacy at CA. "The BearingPoint-CA alliance gives customers a practical approach that allows IT to optimise the performance of the business - even as the IT environment itself becomes increasingly complex."
The alliance also highlights CA`s ongoing commitment to leveraging partnerships to reach a broader global audience and deploy its industry-leading technologies across highly customised, integrated business solutions. Working with CA Technology Services, BearingPoint will leverage CA`s solutions to create the IT policies, processes, roles and metrics to drive performance improvements, maintain financial accountability and enable successful IT/business alignment.
"The agility with which organisations apply information technology and optimise their IT resources is becoming increasingly critical to their overall business performance," said Pierre Champigneulle, managing director, Technology Integration & Infrastructure Group at BearingPoint. "The service management solutions and services that BearingPoint can deliver using CA technology are of enormous short term and strategic value, especially as IT business needs continue to expand so much more rapidly than IT budget allocations."
CA`s Unicenter Service Management solutions support customer ITIL best practices by assisting the IT department in implementing the automation, integration and enhancement of core IT service management tasks - including definition and maintenance of service catalogues, administration of contracts, service provisioning, management operations support, service level management, cost allocation, asset optimisation and regulatory compliance.
ITIL guides IT organisations in communicating with internal constituencies, defining business needs, providing IT services, allocating resources, optimising service levels and managing service delivery from a financial perspective. By bringing this "bottom line" discipline to IT organisations/processes, these resulting best practices can help IT to remain closely aligned with the needs of the business and to provide significant competitive advantages.
