CA, Deloitte announce strategic partnership

Johannesburg, 04 May 2009

In the current global economic downturn, organisations are looking to find ways of increasing their operational efficiencies through more effective use of information communication technology (ICT) assets. Seeking to maximise the value of their current IT initiatives and projects, organisations are looking for innovative methods and solutions that would guide them in delivering tangible benefits to the business. One such approach is combining the best technology products with value-adding consulting services, in order to optimise their business and better align their IT solutions with their overall business strategy.

CA and Deloitte have announced a strategic partnership, whereby Deloitte will adopt CA's clarity project and portfolio technology as their offering of choice, and CA will utilise Deloitte consulting prowess to ensure that their customers gain optimal value from this technology.

“Implementing a PPM solution offers massive value in terms of ensuring that projects are aligned to key business drivers, projects will be delivered on time and within budget, and that organisations are compliant with good governance practices,“ says Gary Lawrence, managing director of CA Africa. “We believe that this partnership with Deloitte offers our customers the opportunity to gain maximum value from PPM.“

The alliance includes both Deloitte Consulting and Deloitte & Touch'e Enterprise Risk Services practice, which provides business governance solutions to clients across all major vertical sectors. These solutions combine the best of CA's technology with Deloitte's renowned approaches to IT governance, project management offices, risk and control optimisation, as well as innovation programmes.

For the customer, it means that their solution will not only have better strategic alignment to the core business needs of the company, but that the technology will be used as a means to realise the strategy, while at the same time deriving more value from the IT spend. “We will be using a risk-based governance approach to identify organisational requirements and align the technology solution to support those requirements,” says John Karageorgiou at Deloitte. “Our goal is to enable businesses to get the most out of their technology solutions, without having to increase their IT spend,” he says.

“The most important benefit of this partnership for customers is that it will provide solutions that have a positive impact on the bottom line, encourage growth in the business and solutions that are aligned with the customer's business strategy and goals,” says Lawrence. “IT is no longer a standalone tool, it is a crucial driver of the overall business, and therefore it needs to be supported by consulting services in order to obtain maximum value,” he concludes.
