Computer Associates International has announced enhancements to its Open License Programme (OLP) that provides significant cost savings through volume-based, centralised software license management to small and medium-sized organisations licensing CA`s Workgroup Edition products through the reseller channel.
Enhancements include an expanded line of products, a new bonus points feature which rewards customers for licensing multiple CA products, a lower entry point for reorders, and a simplified upgrade protection programme. OLP provides a convenient alternative to acquiring multiple copies of boxed software, as well as offering a systematic approach to allow users to achieve compliance with their centralised procurement procedures. Designed for computing environments of up to 250 users, CA`s Workgroup Edition products are segmented into function-specific management areas.

The new OLP offers end users greater discounts for volume purchases. Customers accumulate points for products selected in a transaction. The total points in the initial transaction determine the purchase level and their associated discount schedule for a specified time period. After the first base product is licensed, customers earn an additional 10 points for each unique base product in their transaction. The minimum point level required for reorders has also been reduced from 25 points to 15 points, making it even easier to license additional products.
Also available is the Open License Program Solutions Kit - a portfolio of CD-ROMs incorporating live trial versions of most of CA`s Workgroup products. Live trial versions allow customers to license additional solutions through a channel reorder process without requiring software reinstallation. The customer also receives a customised license certificate that allows them to copy licensed software and provides the registration codes needed to unlock licensed product.
