CA joins Carnegie Mellon University`s IT research consortium to develop, formulate sourcing best practices

Johannesburg, 13 Apr 2006

CA (NYSE: CA) has announced it has joined Carnegie Mellon University`s Information Technology Services Qualification Centre (ITSqc) Research Consortium to develop and formulate sourcing best practices standards.

ITSqc is a multidisciplinary group of researchers, practitioners and organisations that addresses the needs of IT-enabled service providers and their clients by creating capability models and qualification methods that improve the sourcing relationships for IT-enabled sourcing transactions.

As one of the world`s largest information technology (IT) management software companies, CA has extensive experience in IT service management and its best practices.

"We are pleased to lend the expertise and insights we have developed over thousands of successful enterprise IT management implementations worldwide to the creation of sourcing best practices and standards," said Una O`Neill, senior vice-president and general manager, CA Technology Services. "These practices and standards will help both public and private sector organisations optimise the effectiveness and efficiency of technology solutions and services."

The ITSqc is developing two complementary eSourcing Capability Models for service providers and for clients who use IT-enabled sourcing services. The models include a number of best practices that are associated with successful sourcing relationships, and can assist service providers and clients in identifying and assessing their current capabilities associated with best practices.

"We feel CA will make significant contributions to our efforts and to the growing global adoption of the eSourcing Capability Models," said Jane Siegel, PhD, director of the ITSqc. "CA`s perspective as a global provider of enterprise IT management software and services for government and industry complements ongoing efforts within the ITSqc."

The consortium is comprised of representatives from the Standardisation, Testing, and Quality Certification (STQC) Directorate of the Department of Information Technology, Government of India, the IT Services Management Forum (itSMF USA), TPI, several first-tier service providers, specialised service providers and client organisations.
