CA supports first wave of Windows XP adopters with industry`s broadest range of e-business management solutions

Comprehensive, same-day support for Windows XP platform ensures optimum functionality, performance, reliability and security
Johannesburg, 01 Nov 2001

Computer Associates International, Inc (CA) has announced the availability of the industry`s broadest range of e-business management solutions for the Windows XP operating system from Microsoft.

These solutions ensure that customers can achieve the highest levels of functionality, performance, reliability and security.

Just as importantly, through the breadth of CA`s existing platform coverage, CA`s solutions enable customers to manage systems on Windows XP and other platforms in a common manner. This maximises the operational efficiency of IT organisations while protecting existing e-business technology investments.

Today`s announcement includes the availability of more than 100 CA products for Windows XP across major solution areas:

Enterprise Management - including Unicenter Network and Systems Management, which manages the full range of Microsoft platforms, including Windows XP and Windows servers, as well as heterogeneous enterprise environments, including Unix, Linux and mainframe systems.

Storage - including BrightStor Enterprise Backup and other leading BrightStor solutions for Windows XP that manage, protect and restore critical e-business data with unmatched speed and simplicity of administration.

Security - including eTrust Antivirus and other leading eTrust products for Windows XP that secure the extended e-business environment with a complete range of defence, access and management solutions.

Transformation and Integration - including COOL:Joe, ERwin, CCC/Harvest and Ingres, to ensure the disciplined development, deployment, and ongoing management of e-business applications and code in the Windows XP environment.

Portal and Knowledge Management - including Jasmine Portal, Jasmine Reporter and Forest & Trees to better customise the presentation and delivery of Windows XP client information.

Predictive Analysis and Visualisation - including Neugents predictive technology and Aion Business Rules Expert for developing and deploying intelligent e-business solutions, for Windows XP in Internet time.

CA has worked closely with Microsoft to ensure the full compatibility of its products and solutions with Windows XP. These enhanced CA solutions enable organisations implementing Windows XP to effectively deploy and administer Windows-based applications as an integral part of their global, heterogeneous e-business environments, while minimising the demands on their IT support staffs.

"CA is committed to delivering business-focused solutions that run on, support and manage the world`s leading architectures, operating systems and applications," says John Pincomb, vice president of e-business solution platforms, CA. "Organisations will be able to build extremely powerful business systems on Windows XP, and will be able to ensure the ongoing integrity of those systems with CA`s e-business management solutions."

CA`s early commitment to Windows XP reinforces the company`s continuing industry leadership and strategic value to organisations around the world seeking to build, deploy and manage revenue and productivity-enhancing applications within and beyond the enterprise.

While pursuing the advanced functionality offered by Windows XP, companies operating under real-world resource constraints and risk conditions must also focus on issues such as security, backup, ease of administration and monitoring of underlying infrastructure. CA`s e-business management solutions are therefore the ideal complement to Windows XP.

"Windows XP Professional marks another big step in Microsoft`s continued focus on providing advanced enterprise solutions to our customers," says Charles Stevens, vice president of the Enterprise and Partner Group at Microsoft. "CA`s innovative approach to providing business-focused management solutions is a great option for Windows XP corporate deployments taking place today."
