CA Technologies new cloud solutions deliver business agility

Las Vegas - CA World, 18 Nov 2011

CA Technologies announced several new and enhanced agile cloud solutions that deliver business services across public, private or hybrid clouds. These solutions provide the basis for customers to drive business services from the planning and model stage to deployment and operations.

This includes the automation, security and service assurance needed to achieve business agility and its competitive benefits: innovation, speed, cost and risk efficiencies and improved performance.

Andrea Lodolo, CTO of CA Southern Africa, said CA new cloud solutions help to accelerate cloud services adoption and support the value roadmap that leads to business service innovation.

“Organisations are choosing private and public cloud infrastructures to deliver the agility needed for competitive advantage. But with cloud adoption comes an increased level of complexity in how IT manages and secures this new hybrid environment,” says Lodolo.

David Dobson, executive vice-president and group executive, Customer Solutions Group, CA Technologies, says CA's portfolio of solutions helps simplify this complexity and provide a path to move from IT rationalisation and optimisation, to business service innovation and growth.

The new cloud solutions provide the foundation for a business service platform to help customers leverage the advantages of cloud computing for impactful business services. The solutions below, combined with CA Technologies' deep expertise in IT management and security for the mainframe, distributed and cloud environments, help deliver the innovative business services required to enable IT to move at the speed of business.

Products released include: CA Cloud 360; Cloud Commons ecosystem; CA Automation Suite for Clouds; CA application Suite Performance Management; and CA CloudMinder.

Lodolo notes CA's Cloud 360 provides enterprises with a prescriptive approach to help validate and select which applications and business services are best suited for private, public and hybrid clouds.

“CA Technologies has advanced the Cloud Commons ecosystem, rolling out the new Cloud Commons Marketplace and Developer Studio. The Cloud Commons Marketplace unites buyers and sellers of cloud solutions and services and allows them to compare, procure, manage, and sell ongoing subscription-based cloud solutions, services and content. Developers and independent software vendors can use the Cloud Commons Developer Studio to create cloud-ready IT solutions designed for both public and private cloud environments, using the CA AppLogic platform,” adds Lodolo.

He says CA Automation Suite for Clouds was first rolled out in July and delivered a single solution to transform existing data centres by rapidly rolling out private cloud services and realise faster time-to-value for a cloud deployment. Cloud automation simplifies management of multiple clouds in a single interface.

“In terms of Application Performance Management, the latest release of CA APM unleashes the next generation of Application Performance Management with the industry's first and only unified application, infrastructure and network performance solution that helps eliminate hybrid-cloud infrastructure blind spots to put customers firmly in control of the end-user experience.”

Lodolo says CA Technologies has added two new identity and access management (IAM) cloud solutions to its CloudMinder family of IAM as-a-Service offering, namely CA IdentityMinder as-a-Service and CA FedMinder as-a-Service. These two products deliver key capabilities for increasing security and improving operational efficiencies while providing all the benefits of a cloud deployment model: elasticity to expand or contract service support as needed; shorter deployment cycles; and cost-savings as a result of reduced IT administration.

“These announcements support customers as they transition from simply managing IT to delivering business services. CA Technologies applies a unique value roadmap to each customer's business goals to deliver business service innovation: new levels of speed, innovation, performance and cost/risk efficiencies,” concludes Lodolo.
