CA and VMware plan to jointly develop a management solution to maximise IT agility, service quality, cost efficiency and risk avoidance.
This was announced at CA World, in Las Vegas, yesterday.
CA says the combined solution was devised to allow enterprises and cloud service providers to provision applications and resources from both corporate data centre and service provider clouds.
The initial step sees the two companies signing an agreement to make CA Data Centre Automation Manager interoperable with VMware Stage Manager.
The solution will enable customers to efficiently and safely test, stage and deploy complex applications within virtual environments. It will also enable applications hosted on virtualised servers to be ready to operate quickly, and be monitored and secured rapidly to speed up deployment.
According to CA, the joint solution is an expansion of an existing long-term relationship that centres around the design and delivery of integrated management solutions to complement VMware`s virtualisation platform.
CA says the collaboration aims to assist enterprise IT companies and cloud service providers in managing virtualisation for maximum business impact, while extending its benefits beyond server consolidation and cost reduction.
"Many of our shared enterprise customers have moved beyond using virtualisation for server consolidation and cost savings, and are using CA`s virtualisation management technologies to achieve significant business value," explained Ajei Gopal, executive vice-president of CA`s EITM Group.
