The South African CACH'E user group will hold its second meeting for 2004 on Friday, 30 April in Sandton.

The recently established user group aims to provide an environment for sharing knowledge and offering technical guidance, and the opportunity for CACH'E users to network. Presentations at this meeting include Anton Barnard from Relational Logic who will discuss CACH'E Spatial, a topic of particular interest to GIS users; and Fabio Taddei from BPO Med will report back on the highlights of InterSystems Devcon 2004, recently held in Orlando, Florida.

"Our objectives for this year are to grow the user group by providing a forum in which members can hone their CACH'E skills and share their particular areas of expertise with others," says Joe Lukhele, CACH'E User Group chairman.

CACH'E offers seamless integration of relational and object database technologies, giving developers the power to build fast, scalable applications. Tests show CACH'E can deliver rapid performance, between 20 and 100 times faster than well known relational databases - it uses less memory and supports more users on the same hardware platform, reducing the overall cost per user.

It offers three integrated data access options: a robust object database, high-performance SQL and rich multidimensional access. It also enables rapid Web application development, fast transaction processing speed and real-time queries against transactional data.

The user group meeting is scheduled to start at 3:30pm and will be held at Conferencing on Katherine, Softline Technology Park, Katherine Street (between the Grayston and Marlboro Drive off-ramps from the M1).
