Recently Huawei Technologies, one of the leading telecom network equipment suppliers, won a kick-off contract from CTBC, an established Brazilian telecom operator noted for its quality service offerings among its telecom customers, to enhance the capacity of its existing network.
This contract win followed Huawei`s initial success of its first C&C08 trial on the telecoms network of Uberaba, a major city in eastern Brazil with a population of around 200,000.
Huawei C&C08 has been reliably and effectively running along with other equipment on the same telecom network, supplied by different vendors in the industry.
The trial operation of the C&C08 switching system lasted as long as CTBC required and it ran with very good performance on Uberaba Office, a major subsidiary of Brazilian CTBC.
The results totally met all the technical requirements and specifications set by CTBC in the light of the international standards stipulated by ITU and other leading standard organizations for the telecom industry.
On this pilot project, C&C08 operates excellently, offering a wide range of services such as PSTN, ISDN, etc. for its Brazilian customers. It features a robust interfacing capacity, a perfect billing system and a customized network management system.
After this successful testing, the idea of employing Huawei`s C&C08 and HONET access equipment to reinforce its network infrastructure has eventually been translated into action.
Pursuant to the contract, Huawei provides CTBC with its large capacity switching system C&C08 and feature-rich access network HONET as well as other complete transmission equipment totaling 33,000 subscriber lines.
With C&C08 and HONET, CTBC is able to deliver many services, such as PSTN, Centrex, ISDN, cipher billing, etc. They cover its customers mostly in Uberaba and Franca, another industrial city in southeast Brazil with a population of around 150,000, and other areas.
The industry-leading C&C08 and HONET allow CTBC to apply various signalling systems such as CCS7, ISUP-BR, V5.2 etc. Meanwhile, the equipment consumes much less power compared to the comparable equipment in the industry and among others it features lower cost on network maintenance.
It is worth mentioning that another broadband pilot office is currently underway. CTBC will once again conduct its rigid test running for Huawei`s MA5100 that provides broadband ports. The trial office is to open to interested visitors in Brazil in October 2001 when completed as scheduled.
