Canadian bank rolls out Android app
With the unveiling of its new banking app for Android smartphones, RBC will become the first Canadian bank to fully integrate mobile banking apps on the three most popular smartphone platforms, which include the iPhone and BlackBerry devices, writes My Bank Tracker.
Since the release of the Android app, RBC's mobile banking apps have been downloaded 800 000 times, and have also received a 4.4 out of five star rating from RBC customers on Android Market.
Sharad Ojha, head of Mobile Channel Strategy at RBC, said: “Canadians are busy now more than ever, and the Android app offers them the time-saving convenience of taking care of their banking needs 24/7,” writes Finextra.
He adds: “With mobile penetration currently at 68% worldwide, and expected to grow even further, consumers will look to leverage mobile devices and applications for their banking needs in ever increasing numbers.”
According to Canada Business Review, the RBC Mobile app allows clients to check their account balance and account details, provides the ability to transfer money between accounts, pay bills and send Interac e-Transfers.
Clients can also connect with the nearest RBC branch using the Branch and ATM Locator, which leverages the on-device GPS.
