Candor enables print to meet new economy demands

Johannesburg, 11 Jul 2001

Leading business and specialist Application Solution Provider (ASP), Candor Technologies has announced that it will be releasing the second version of its BizCardPrint.com application. The company says the application now has far more reaching implications than just business cards and is poised to make a significant impact in the print on-demand industry.

Originally developed to eliminate the pains and wastage associated with conventionally printing business cards, BizCardPrint.com 2.0 now facilitates most printable materials including letterheads, brochures, compliment slips, annual reports, datasheets etc. Companies and individuals are empowered to typeset (change the details of individual, agent or branch), proof and order their printing requirements online with delivery in 48-hours.

Jason Frichol, Candor`s international development officer says, "Print has to meet the demand of the new economy. The real cost of traditional print production is greater than companies might realize. Actual printing costs typically accounts for less than 10% of the total cost when you include such factors such as turnaround time, waste, inventories, missed opportunities, distribution, accuracy and manpower."

Frichol continues to say that the application automates both the ordering and the production process. And Instead of utilising high-volume offset machines, BizCardPrint.com works with printer vendors who operate specialised low-volume, high-quality digital printing presses.

New developments include that the application is now XML based utilising PDF conversion technology - PDF on-the-fly; advanced multi-level access engine to suit any company`s work flow; on-line context-sensitive help module; universal platform access; language localisation and full `skinning` facility.

Candor says the next big obstacle is educating the market on print on-demand benefits and consolidating its partnerships and a number of blue-chip prospects who`ve shown interest in the application.

Candor`s managing director, Wido Schnabel says, "Success relies on market access. We are sticking to our core competencies as a software development house and finding partners to market and sell the application. A partnership with a major stable is imminent. Details will be released later this month."
