Cannon Technologies celebrates 35 years of excellence

Cannon Technologies, the international leader in innovative data centre solutions, has reached a significant milestone in its illustrious history by completing 35 years in business. The company will commemorate its manufacturing excellence and pioneering research and development achievements with staff, partners and customers over the coming months.

In the same year that the Bee Gees were top of the charts and the film-going public flocked to see Christopher Reeve as Superman, Cannon Technologies was formed by teams from RJF and Scammell, with the primary objective of developing business in the defence and commercial sectors.

It developed a range of 19-inch and 23-inch cabinets and racks that quickly became synonymous with quality and reliability, and was the first company in Europe to achieve European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSi) certification.

By the mid-1980s, the company had expanded further into the burgeoning IT sector with a variety of well-received solutions, and by the 1990s it had also introduced a range of outdoor enclosures for CCTV, radio base stations for cellular communications and other IP-rated products for global deployment.

Building on its ongoing success, Cannon Technologies manufactured a number of marine and land-based enclosures specifically designed to suit challenging environments. These fully equipped solutions offered a plethora of groundbreaking features, including electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) protection, high IP ratings, extreme shock attenuation, full environmental and thermal management, physical protection against attack, and remote access control and electronic locking.

It was at this time that it expanded its international operations by establishing production facilities in Europe and North America, while investing over millions of pounds in data centre-related research and development. Its expertise in this sector was cemented over the following years and continues to this day.

It is now recognised all over the world for its award-winning T4 Data Centre Solutions range, which includes the T4 Modular Data Centre, the T4 Data Centre Manager, the T4 Mini Data Centre and the innovative Cold Aisle Cocooning system. No stranger to receiving industry accolades, it recently won the prestigious Team of the Year Award at the Green IT Awards 2013 for its work on the specification and installation of a T4 Modular Data Centre at the headquarters of Datacentrix, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

"It gives me enormous pleasure to look back upon a highly successful 35 years in business," commented Ted Reddicliffe, chairman of Cannon Technologies. "We are immensely proud of our enviable reputation as a leader in our industry, which is the result of the vast knowledge and skills we have within our inspirational team. While it's great to reflect on our past successes, we are also looking forward to an equally dynamic future and will continue to produce solutions that enhance businesses of all kinds."
