Canon bullish on India

Despite global economic slowdown and liquidity crunch, Canon is still bullish on India and is planning to launch 100 new products in 2009, introducing path-breaking, customer-friendly technologies, reports The Hindu.

The imaging technology major that has a leading share in India's camera and video markets will also be expanding its presence by adding more distributors and retailers.

“This year too we will be adding 100 new products across various segments. The new products for business customers will focus on enhancing their productivity and cost saving,” says Alok Bharadwaj, senior VP of Canon India

German publisher upgrades workflow

German publisher, Verlag und Druckerei, is upgrading its PPI workflow, reports Graphic Repro Online. The publishing company has commissioned the Manroland subsidiary, PPI Media, to install its output management system Printnet OM.

The company says this aims to create a uniform, end-to-end prepress workflow and automate and optimise RIP, merge, imaging, production and proofing on a long-term basis.

PPI's ProofStation will provide an enhanced function for comparing bitmap versions, by means of which significant plate savings can be achieved.

Kodak Easyshare adds ArcSoft

Multimedia technologies and applications software developer, ArcSoft's Print Creations, a collection of print-project software applications, is now included with the latest release of Kodak Easyshare software, according to TMCnet.

"We're very excited to be included with Kodak's flagship desktop software and to provide its users with so many new and creative home printing options," says Michael Deng, president and CEO of ArcSoft.

"Together, Kodak Easyshare software and ArcSoft Print Creations make it easy for everyone to create and print beautiful greeting cards, photo album pages, and other personalised print projects in just minutes, right at home."
