Canon chooses PartServe

Johannesburg, 04 Apr 2005

PartServe Channel Support today announced that it has been appointed by Canon South Africa as its services provider for warranty repairs as from 1 April 2005. This agreement covers Canon`s imaging products types: facsimile equipment, multifunctional devices, multimedia projectors, printers and scanners.

Under this programme and depending on availability, certain entry-level products may be exchanged immediately by PartServe`s Warranty Centres, making it more beneficial for the customer to take their faulty unit directly to the Repair Centre as this could greatly minimise the turnaround time.

"With our distribution model, it was imperative for us to appoint the appropriate service provider who had the coverage, expertise and customer relationships that we needed in this country," commented Morgan Armogam, General Manager of Service for Canon SA. "Hence, it is no surprise that we have established a partnership with PartServe, who have more than proved themselves in the local marketplace."

PartServe Channel Support has also been appointed by Canon South Africa as the southern African parts distributor for the latter`s facsimile equipment, multifunctional devices, multimedia projectors, printers and scanners.

"We are delighted to now have this relationship in place with Canon," added Lee Bowes, Director of PartServe Channel Support. "This new initiative consolidates our position as a major service provider of warranty management services and as the leading printer parts supplier in southern Africa."

Canon South Africa (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon Europa in the Netherlands, was established in January 2000. Canon Europa invested in SA with a view to growing and expanding its market share in the country, when it assumed responsibility for the sales and marketing of Canon`s full range of consumer imaging products in SA. The rest of the Sub-Saharan African region also became the responsibility of Canon SA and SA was set up as a hub for business in the region.

Canon`s consumer imaging product line-up includes: bubble jet printers, scanners, faxes, personal copiers, multifunctional devices, calculators, printer and fax consumables, multimedia projectors, as well as a full range of photo and video products. The company`s consumer imaging products have enjoyed tremendous growth in the last two years that can be directly attributed to a more focused approach to marketing and selling these products.
